SARACEN® knife block keeps your knives close at hand, while protecting their edges from damage in a drawer and keeping them out of children’s reach. Choose the type that suits how you cook and how much counter space you have available.

All three options are made of wood – oak for the Magnetic and Wooden versions, and cherry for the Rotating version. Place the block on a stable, level surface out of children’s reach; for the magnetic version, we also recommend checking from time to time that the knives are securely in place.

How does a magnetic knife block work?

Magnets are built into the oak wood, and you place the flat side of the blade against them. This means you don’t have to insert the blade edge into the wood as you would with a classic block.

What kind of wood are SARACEN® knife blocks made of?

The Magnetic and Wooden types are made of oak wood, while the Rotating type is made of cherry wood.

Is the knife block safe if I have children at home?

Keep the block and stored knives out of children’s reach. For the magnetic version, we recommend checking from time to time that the knives are securely in place.

What’s the difference between the Wooden and Rotating knife blocks?

The Wooden block is a solid block into which you insert the knives blade-first. The Rotating block turns around an axis, giving you convenient access to all your knives from one place on the countertop.

Honestly, the shape threw me off a little at first, but after a few days of use, I wouldn’t change a thing. The knife fits beautifully in my hand, and that “beak” really makes sense, especially when chopping on a cutting board – I finally don’t bang my knuckles against the board 🙂 I mainly use it for vegetables and meat, and the slicing motion is really smooth, almost effortless. You can tell it’s well balanced – the knife practically “works by itself.” It stays surprisingly sharp; I haven’t needed to sharpen it yet. Plus, it looks really beautiful – the Damascus steel pattern looks even better in person than in the photos. In my opinion, it’s a great addition to the kitchen that’s not just a design piece, but really works 👍
